Steven Caulker joins Fenerbahce in the completion of the former England and Tottenham defender from Antalyaspor

STEVEN CAULKER has shown his signing for Fenerbahce of Turkey after two years with their Super Lig rivals, Antalyaspor.

And the former Three Lions star has expressed his joy at joining Turkey’s “biggest club”, whose team is former Arsenal ace Mesut Ozil.

The loose move follows a season of Caulker with Antalyaspor.

The centre-back, who moved up to Tottenham’s ranks, helped the team triumph in the qualifying rounds of the 2020-21 Europa League before being eliminated via Rosenburg.

And Caulker’s ruling marks a sea change for the former Tottenham and QPR ace who spoke to the BBC about his battles against gambling and alcohol in the past.

The 29-year-old former England player shared the news of his replacement with 21,000 of his fans on Twitter, describing his as “a new chapter” in a tweet caption.

Caulker on the club’s website: “I have won a lot of messages from fenerbahçe fans.

“It’s very and I’m very happy. I hope to play very well this season and get the trophy at the end.

“I played here last year and played here two years ago. It’s a great club.

“Fenerbahçe is the biggest club in Turkey.

“It’s also the club with the squad. I think the fans will be in the stadium this season and we’ll see that we’ll be champions. “

Caulker, who is entering his twelfth year as a senior professional, began his footballing career at the age of 16 at Tottenham when he was a young player in 2007.

The West London-born player has played 29 games for North London in all competitions, scoring two goals and offering two assists.

And the centre-back, who signed his first contract with Spurs in July 2009, ended his loan at Yeovil Town, Bristol City and Swansea, before returning to north London in 2012.

The player played for England in a 4–2 friendly loss to Sweden in November of the same year.

One season in Cardiff and three years in QPR from 2014 to 2017 followed Caulker’s departure from White Lane in 2012.

And the former Prem player would move to Dundee in 2018 before taking flight several months from the game and then sealing a to Alyaspor in January 2019.
