CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Indians turned their moment into the mainstream industry in two days, sending outfielder Eddie Rosario to the Atlanta Braves for infielder Pablo Sandoval.
Rosario signed as a stand-alone player this winter with the Indians, who necessarily signaled capitulation to the AMERICAN League Central by awarding point guard Cesar Hernandez to first place in the White Sox by a minor league pitcher.
Cleveland, which has been devastated by injuries, is dragging Chicago through 8 games entering a weekend series between teams. In addition, Indians manager Terry Francona resigned for the rest of the season to deal with serious fitness issues.
Rosario, 29, has been on the disabled list since July 6 with an indirect elongation. He beat Array254 with seven home runs and 46 RBI in games.
Sandoval used primarily as a hitter through the Braves. The 34-year-old has connected on 4 home runs this season and is hitting Array178 with 11 RBI in 69 games.
Sandoval, the 2012 World Series Most Valuable Player for San Francisco.
