Cinemas in Odisha will reopen with capacity for 50 from tomorrow

Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], August 1 (ANI): Almost two months later, cinemas in Odisha will reopen at 50% of their hours from Monday.

Speaking to ANI, Binodh, deputy director of Keshri Cinema, said they would open the venue on August five due to the unavailability of films.

“The Odisha government has announced the reopening of cinemas from August 1, however we will open the cinema from August 5 as there are no new films in hand. We carry out all the disinfection paints of the premises. We will only play 3 daily exhibitions instead of five per day due to the night curfew, which will start from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am every day until August,” Binodh said.

Cinemas were closed following the announcement of the lockdown on May Five at the time of the COVID-19 wave.

He added that the city’s citizens basically stop at cinemas on weekly holidays, however, the government imposed weekly closures on Saturdays and Sundays, which will hamper their activity, he added.

“We will have to close the room before 8 p. m. because the curfew at night will take place. I hope it will take a month and a part for the company to get back on track,” Binodh added.

Given the existing Covid scenario in Odisha, the state government has issued rules for the month of August that come with a night curfew across the state from 8 p. m. at 6 a. m. The rules will take effect from 6 a. m. of August 1 and will remain in force until 6 a. m. of September 1.

The weekend closure rule has been lifted in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri, where transmission of the disease remains high. (ANI) Mr President,
