Foster Partners unveiled the proposed master plan design to regenerate the Centennial Yards site in downtown Atlanta. La proposed 50-acre transforms car parks and former train stations into an inclusive, community-centered mixed-use progression of buildings, appliances and public spaces. The allocation is part of a $5 billion urban transformation and is designed in collaboration with architecture firm Perkins Will.

The master plan was developed after an investigation of the city’s historic grid site of atlanta’s surrounding neighborhoods. The architects sought to create a pedestrian urban environment that celebrates the city’s urban way of life and is in continuity with the surrounding islets. They have more pedestrian zones that are combined with adjacent cities. These shared streets and plazas make up a dynamic public area that can host events, collection areas and outdoor activities for locals and visitors.
Centennial Yards is one of the largest sports and entertainment advancements in the country and is close to major area attractions such as Atlanta Hawks’ State Farm Arena and Mercedes-Benz Stadium, as well as MARTA stations that connect the site to the rest. The master plan anchors those cultural points of interest and provides a variety of functions, from work buildings and business hotels to a must-see listing and residential apartments.
