Guess ‘Hoos back: why I chose to return to Charlottesville to do canopy at Virginia Sports

Scott Quiet Stadium.

He had just come out of Bronco Mendenhall’s first press convention as virginia’s new head football coach. It’s bittersweet because I say goodbye.

After doing my reporting component in Charlottesville, running for Scout Media, I had to move to Gainesville, Florida, to control the Florida Gators and the SEC. I had memories of my first girdling, adding the adventure of Virginia Basketball to their first ACC tournament. crown since 1976 in 2014.

SeeIng Joe Harris, Akil Mitchell, Malcolm Brogdon, London Perrantes and the company come together, ignoring this loss of Tennessee to make history, a fun adventure to be a part of.

It’s sad to say goodbye.

I met my husband in Charlottesville.

I met several friends in Charlottesville.

I’m a journalist in Charlottesville.

I’ve followed Virginia athletics, with Florida basketball and football bringing the Cavaliers together several times over the years. Quickly through 2021, I had a chance to get the Cavaliers behind the enemy lines still on the sidelines.

Last June, I won a call from 247Sports asking if I wanted to report back on UVA. I seized the opportunity.

I’m no longer a green reporter. I’ve been in this business for almost a decade and I looked to get back to where it started, but this time I looked to do it right, I looked to do it better.

Jamie Oakes was my mentor when I first set foot in Charlottesville in 2013. I was entering the recruiting box with education on local television news; to say I was defeated in my first recruiting camp would be an understatement. walk away and let myself ford; after all, I was running for the competition site. It helped me inform myself of the landscape. It helped me adapt.

I am honored to follow in his footsteps. I look forward to continuing where he ended up and continuing his legacy. When I told Oakes this month that I was going to board, he asked me to take care of his baby for him. I’m ready to do it.

Two kids, a cat and a dog later, I’m back in Charlottesville and can’t wait to get back to watching the Wahoos.

I plan to bring a lot of analysis, weekly features, and a lot of recruiting content, adding “Hoos Trending–”,my internal recruitment eBook that outlines the goals of several of the key goals. However, I also need to listen to the Wahoo Nation. You do this and this community. I can’t wait to hear from everyone about what you need to see in the future.

So with that, let’s have fun.
