Never miss a wonderful tale in Warrington with our email

The crosfields clubhouse was closed following the discovery of legionella bacteria, it has been confirmed.

Warrington City Council has been largely tracking the factor at the Great Sankey site.

A spokesperson said: “In accordance with the existing protection and fitness law and as a component of the normal building controls that are carried out through the town hall, we are the source of water in all our buildings for legionella and other bacteria. “

“During the pandemic, normalcy has continued in all communal buildings. In September 2020, tests at the Crosfields Recreation Ground detected legionella samples in the water supply system.

“At the time of discovery, the building was closed to the public due to Covid-19 restrictions.

“Since we discovered legionella in the water system, we have worked hard with the contractors and plan to reopen the center as soon as possible.

“While we appreciate that there is a breakpoint with the clubhouse remaining closed, we are pleased that the playgrounds can still be used and that the toilets of choice are also available. “
