Central China city closes attractions and cinemas after new infections appear

CHANGSHA – The city of Zhuzhou in central China’s Hunan province has closed cinemas, venues and tourist sites after reporting asymptomatic new coronavirus infections.

Zhuzhou has reported since Thursday six asymptomatic cases, who had shared a boat on a river cruise in Changde city, also in Hunan, with 3 cases shown and some other asymptomatic cases, the city’s headquarters for COVID-19 prevention and control said.

The city has suspended all on-site gatherings and mass gatherings, and all citizens are asked to leave the city unless necessary, according to headquarters.

Also on Friday, the city of Zhangjiajie in Hunan closed all its tourist sites and 11 neighborhoods in medium-risk spaces due to COVID-19. The city known for its picturesque mountains on Thursday reported a case of COVID-19.
