Plans for a place for singles to accommodate “a house and a caravan of tourists” on land in Killamarsh were rejected.
The applicant, described in the plan-making documents as “a Roma Gypsy following an itinerant lifestyle”, already visits the Boiley Lane site on a daily basis and had applied for permission to access a site for himself.
However, Derbyshire North East MP Lee Rowley wrote a letter of opposition “on behalf of several residents of killamarsh”.
The Conservative MP expressed fear that the site on the green belt, that the request retrospective and also contrary to the elements of the draft local plan of the region.
He said: “While I am satisfied that this is a delicate and delicate situation, the aim of the planning policy is to create frameworks in which decisions, while possibly difficult, are made on the basis of due process and careful scrutiny.
“It’s that the public has confidence in those policy frameworks. “
He “strongly urged” urban planners to refuse the building permit.
Arguments in support of the request had warned that “remote and protected location” would create “a small effect on the character of the field” in the area.
But officials in making plans gave several reasons for rejecting the proposed land, which sits on the west side of Boiley Farm, between a fishing pond and Boiley Lane.
Officials said: “The site is located on the green belt. Replacing the use of the site at a caravan site for human habitation has a negative effect on the opening of the green belt and is a progression outside the point on the green belt. “.
“Substantial weight will have to be given to this damage to the green belt.
“The use is also full for the character and appearance of the field and this is in addition to the green belt.
“There are no other considerations, added to those relating to the passenger prestige of the occupant, that give sufficient weight in favor of the proposal and that quantify very special cases that would justify the development. “
