Former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich filed a complaint Monday alleging that his impeachment trial in the state House and his trials in the state Senate in 2009 were unconstitutional and that he regained the right to occupy a workplace in Illinois.
“The disorders are very clear,” Blagojevich told reporters Monday. “This is the right to vote and due process. “He told reporters that his prosecutions were “dishonest” and evidence was taken out of context for political reasons.
Blagojevich filed his own complaint, meaning he will act as his own lawyer, was disbarred in 2020, after speaking to outdoor journalists at the US courthouse in Dirksen, the charge of his conviction in 2011. He repeated several times that he did not. intend to run for any office, but refused to exclude him.
Blagojevich, who was governor of Illinois from 2003 to 2009, charged through the House of Representatives with abuse of force and corruption. The state Senate voted to impeach him and save him from occupying a political workplace in the state of Illinois. he won a federal indictment similar to a wide variety of corruption charges, adding an attempt to sell the U. S. Senate seat left vacant through then-President-elect Barack Obama. After serving 8 years of a 14-year criminal sentence that began in 2011, then- President Donald Trump commuted his sentence in 2020.
Blagojevich said Monday that the 2009 state Senate’s solution to disqualify him from a public workplace in Illinois “paints a manipulated impeachment procedure designed through Illinois House Speaker Mike Madigan. “unconstitutional solution.
Blagojevich’s trial claims that “the [Illinois] House impeachment hearings and the Senate trial that followed violated due process and the Constitution” and, in doing so, stole their elected governor from Illinois voters.
According to a report via abc7, which works with documentary film crews, Blagojevich said his lawsuit alleged he was not allowed to call or question witnesses in his impeachment process or broadcast all of the FBI’s voluminous UNDERcover recordings, which he said made them unconstitutional.
Among the most memorable public sound clips of the impeachment trials is a phone call recorded through the FBI where Blagojevich can be heard referring to the vacant U. S. Senate seat, saying, “I have this, and it’s shit gold. don’t give up anything for nothing shit. “
Blagojevich has done much to stay in the public eye over the years. Between his impeachment and his criminal conviction, it seemed that Trump showed the truth as a Celebrity Apprentice.
