Living in the Mall: New Main Points in Apartment Allocation on the Old Sears Site

Locally owned news. We put readers first.

Last week, we were talking about an assignment to build apartments in the former Sears store in Boise Towne Square.

We now have a more complete review of how the task would work.

The Madison Town Square assignment would destroy the existing Sears branch that adjoins the rest of the mall building; instead, the developers hope to build a number of buildings, a pavilion and a rental workplace, as well as a swimming pool.

“The progression site will come with amenities such as parking spaces for vehicles and bikes, a personal pool and a related playground, up to public transportation (Valley Regional Transit and Park moving location).

The assignment would have much compatibility with the existing store footprint and would not replace the mall’s internal road system. Apartment buildings would be organized around landscaped courtyards.

The application covers 126 one-bedroom apartments, 91 two-bedroom apartments and 34 three-bedroom apartments, for a total of 410 rooms. Floor plans imply that the typical unit comes with a washer/dryer, but a laundry is not unusual. provided in the clubhouse building.

The assignment will require approval for the design review, such as approval for the progression of a planned unit. The Boise Planning and Zoning Commission will hear from the PUD at its assembly on Sept. 20 at 6 p. m. in the Town Hall of Boise.

Seritage Properties sold the assets to MCG of Charlotte, North Carolina earlier this year. Seritage’s call remains in the deed of the call. Seritage filed a deed of resignation to move to MCG in April.

Sears closed the store in early 2019 after a liquidation sale. The chain and its kmart organization of retail outlets continue to shrink in the United States.

Madison Town Square is one of the many ongoing multifamily assignments around Boise Towne Square, micro-apartments in the parking lot and a 136-unit apartment and a garage unit assignment on Cole Rd.
