Ashland board of directors to vote to move forward with new outdoor music amphitheater

ASHLAND, Missouri (KMIZ)

Ashland’s Board of Directors will hold a meeting on Tuesday at 7 p. m. in which they will vote to move a new outdoor musical amphitheater.

If the council votes to approve a conditional use permit, on Aug. 10 it will continue with a vote through the Ashland Planning and Zoning Board.

The amphitheater site is at 5900 E Log Providence Rd at the highway 63 exit and H Road.

The asset in has a domain of approximately 35 acres, of which approximately 20 acres are developed in the first phase, the first phase will involve a stage, a movie screen, a parking lot, a concession post, a small lake with beach/playground and a playground.

On July 13, the Planning and Zoning Commission advised approval of the progression as long as the operating hours do not exceed 10 p. m. all week and do not exceed Fridays and Saturdays.

A trade review submitted to the Development Board on July 20. The films will take place on Fridays if weather permits, with two screenings starting at five in the afternoon at midnight. Concerts will take place on Saturdays weather permitting with a midnight end time. From Sunday to Thursday, occasions will be arranged and the corridor can also be rented for private/public occasions.

According to staff, the allocation is thought to have a positive economic effect and make Ashland a destination that will attract visitors from across the state. For this reason, the staff submitted approval of the amended conditional use license.

In addition to the time restrictions charged on site, board members charge that decibel grades exceed 75 dB at the nearest residence, and that the operating season will run from the last day of February to the last day of November.

Local citizens are not in favour of a imaginable addition. Jerry and Ann Anderson said, “It’s a shame that they’re going to ruin our community with all kinds of noises and that other people get drunk after attending musical events. “

The Andersons said they had lived in their home for 40 years and were very much with the 59 neighbors. They said no one in the region is in favor of the project.

“People will come from other counties, they will come in our way snooping,” Ann said. Jerry added that all citizens of the domain use a single street lane to get out. “The entertainment venue is across our road, where 59 houses have to come and go, that’s going to cause a lot of congestion,” Jerry said.
