The structure of a new logo cinema to update an iconic location on the Redcar promenade is underway, and Teesside metal is being used.
BAM Construction began the preparation paintings last autumn on the £9. 6 million project, which is funded through the Tees Valley Combined Authority.
Councillors unanimously agreed to plan to demolish the existing cinema across from the junction of Newcomen Terrace and Station Road and update it with a three-screen cinema with seating for up to two hundred people.

The last cinema closed in 2018 after being judged for the deterioration of its ceiling and exterior walls.
Residents and visitors were promised a new three-story art-deco style construction with an approved bar and a “spectacular” view of the sea, while there will also be a used area for the public.
Construction is expected to be completed in March 2022 and the new cinema is expected to open during the spring of that year.
A total of one hundred tons of metal will be used in the construction, 82% of which will be produced in the municipality.
The foundations have been laid and the new dike and the concrete frame and staircase are in place.
The concrete floors were also finished and the roof and cladding will be added in the coming weeks, with the hope that the design will be in the fall.
Mark Laidlaw, assignment manager, said paintings on site are progressing well.
“With full steel, we will be in our external coating systems in the coming weeks,” he said.
“Work has now begun on the curtain wall system, and the glass is expected to arrive in early September. Internal portraits also began with some initial exclusive portraits, adding portrait portraits and drain.
“The terracotta cladding formula will move forward by the end of September, seeing us on track for the final touch in early 2022. “
