The Albanian women’s clothing designer has received the 2021 LVMH award for young designers, which she won on Tuesday in a star-studded rite in Paris, awarded through French actress Isabelle Huppert and the jury of the award composed by Dior for Men’s Artistic director Kim Jones; Virgil Abloh, Louis Vuitton male art director and Off-White designer; Stella McCartney; Marc Jacobs and Loewe’s art director, Jonathan Anderson.

Dojaka, who is based in London, is a graduate of Central Saint Martins, where she introduced her eponymous label in 2017, earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the university. During his studies, he interned for designer brands such as Peter Pilotto and Fyodor Golan. .
After presenting his alumni collection two years later, he created a capsule collection with Ssense and decided to appear as a component of the emerging designer platform, Fashion East.
She was also chosen for the first edition of the mentoring program presented last fall through fashion designer Alessandro Dell’Acqua and Tomorrow London, which helped protect 30 outlets around the world.
The designer is known for her lingerie dresses and cutouts that reference the aesthetics of the years 90. Se encouraged through designers such as Helmut Lang and Ann Demeulemeester for their looks. Dojaka beat out some 1,900 applicants from 110 countries for the award, which comes with a €300,000 prize and a year of training through LVMH experts Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton. The designer plans to use the cash prize to expand her team and production. It recently started operating with a new factory in Italy and uses more durable fabrics.
The designer presents her next collection at the upcoming London Fashion Week, presenting her first fashion show on September 17.
“When I started, I had a very young clientele, and now, with the progression of the collection with a little more cuts and more powerful looks, it fits a little bit, so it’s a wider audience and I need to do it a lot. more versatile,” Dojaka told WWD after winning the award.
