Netflix has its gaming aspirations by getting Night School Studio, the creators of Oxenfree that are now running its sequel.
Netflix has been in the news in recent years for its aspirations to break into the gaming space, so it looks like it’s taken some other big step in this effort. The company has just announced the acquisition of Night School Studio, the guilty progression studio. for creating the horror/suspense adventure game Oxenfree. La night school will be placed under the aegis of Netflix even as it continues to paint in the upcoming Oxenfree 2.
Netflix announced the acquisition of Night School Studio in a Netflix press release on September 28, 2021, with Night School confirming itself.
“Founded through Sean Krankel and Adam Hines in 2014, Night School Studio is known for its first critically acclaimed game, Oxenfree,” wrote Mike Verdu, Netflix’s vice president of game expansion. “Their ambitious project encourages us to set a new standard for storytelling in games. Their commitment to artistic excellence and proven track record make them invaluable partners as we expand Netflix’s artistic features and game library together. “
Night School Studio equally excited about the acquisition, sharing the excitement of joining the foundation that forms Netflix’s gaming efforts.
“Night School needs to expand our narrative and design aspirations through unique and original games,” wrote Night School co-founder Sean Krankel. “Netflix is bringing an unprecedented internet to movies, television and now game creators to create and deliver wonderful entertainment. Our explorations into narrative play and Netflix’s history of supporting storytellers was such an herbal combination. It was as if both groups had come to this conclusion instinctively.
With mocking plans to bring Netflix games primarily to mobile devices and pair them with existing subscriptions without any charge changes, the acquisition of Night School Studio is one of the biggest concrete moves of Netflix’s plans to date. more main points about Night School’s Netflix and Oxenfree 2 games, the latter of which will be released this fall.
