Briefing lawmakers behind closed doors, U. S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley revealed discussions being taken with the governments of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and others, according to Politico.
Kenneth McKenzie, commander of U. S. Central Command (CENTCOM), detailed the types of army aircraft and liberation issues that can be used to launch movements opposed to targets in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan.
The most sensitive generals first testified before the Senate after the U. S. withdrawal.
On August 31, the United States ended the withdrawal of its forces from Afghanistan based on the Doha Agreement it signed with the Taliban last year.
Earlier, in public testimony, Milley noted that he had warned U. S. President Joe Biden that a hasty withdrawal from Afghanistan could increase the dangers to Pakistan’s nuclear weapons and the country’s security.
Milley said: “We believed that an accelerated withdrawal would increase the dangers of regional instability, Pakistan’s security and its nuclear arsenals. “
“We want to read fully about the role of the Pakistani shrine,” the general said while emphasizing a desire to investigate how the Taliban have resisted U. S. military tension for 20 years. (ANI)
