The assets of the former Jeannette District Memorial Hospital are for sale.
The vacant 12-acre site on Jefferson Avenue is indexed at $1. 5 million, more than six years after Exela Health’s assets were transferred to a personal developer for $820,000. Craig Anlauf, who operates several serviced apartments in the area, said he could return to the assignment if no one shows up to buy the assets.
“We put it up for sale just to see if there’s any interest,” he said.
The coronavirus pandemic has affected nursing homes across the country and Anlauf said he intends to focus on those businesses in the coming months. If the scenario improves, Anlauf said he hopes to return to the hospital’s former property.
In June, he told the Tribune-Review that he hoped Suite 318, a luxury independent living, will soon be available, a closed network for the elderly planned for the rest of the country, he said at the time.
Improvements were made to the exterior and windows of a six-story construction on the property. Another construction donated to firefighters who used it for an educational exercise. The burned remains remain in the residential domain not far from Route 30.
Code enforcement officer Bill Whetzel said the city had never won an application for a building permit or a developer’s construction plan other than the demolition permit for chimney training. Mayor Curtis Antoniak said he hoped to step in to take over the site.
“I’m very disappointed because there were such big projects there,” Antoniak said. “I just hope someone comes forward. In fact, they will do it with the domain you are in.
Assets include a 41,000-square-foot medical construction, a five-story parking lot, and some other construction and parking area.
The hospital complex, purchased through Pittsburgh Mercy Health System’s Excela Health in April 2008 for $13. 8 million, was transformed into an outpatient care facility in 2010 and closed in January 2011. more horny for potential developers.
