Plug Power (Latham, NY) and Lhyfe, a French manufacturer and supplier of green hydrogen, announced a partnership to jointly pursue and expand green hydrogen production plants across Europe. The initiative aims to generate a total hydrogen capacity of 300 MW by 2025. and begin the progression of a 1 GW production site.
The agreement builds on the execution date already set between the two corporations earlier this year. In this project, Plug Power’s hydrogen electrolyzer generation will supply 1 MW of capacity to the world’s first offshore hydrogen production plant, developed through Lhyfe and powered by electric power from a floating wind turbine off le Croisic, at SEM-REV, on the offshore site of Centrale Nantes, which will be operational until 2022.
The leaders of Plug Power and Lhyfe met in Paris, France, at Hyvolution 2021, where they signed a Memorandum of Understanding outlining their respective roles and responsibilities, as well as their goals for the coming years.
“We are excited to expand our paints with Lhyfe, bringing the green hydrogen revolution to all of Europe,” said Andy Marsh, CEO of Plug Power. “The Lhyfe team has ambitious ambitions and roles that align with our own vision of a long carbon-free life. In North America, we have already built a physically powerful “hydrogen highway,” which includes 165 hydrogen refueling stations and desktop electric power for businesses and institutions, a good fortune we plan to reflect in Europe. .
Plug Power is the world’s largest buyer of liquid hydrogen and has been supplied in Europe for over 10 years. The company has advanced in the deployment of hydrogen programs with major European industrial, logistics and automaker consumers, adding its joint venture with Renault called HYVIA. Plug Power has installed several PEM generation responses in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy and Portugal, and recently announced the launch of its European headquarters in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
“We are very proud of the confidence that a player like Plug Power has in our determination and ability to produce absolutely blank hydrogen,” said Matthieu Guesné, CEO and founder of Lhyfe. “Thanks to this partnership, we will be able to rely on Plug Power’s next-generation generation to deploy hydrogen production sites on land and offshore, in Europe and also in North America, which has vital decarbonization needs, in particular to upgrade oil products that are still mined and fed by a giant. scale.
Lhyfe, a world leader in the commercial production of renewable green hydrogen, inaugurated in September the world’s first commercial for the production of renewable hydrogen connected directly to a wind farm and will inaugurate the world’s first offshore renewable hydrogen production at the SEM. -Rev offshore check in 2022. Lhyfe deploys about sixty projects in Europe for mobility and industry.
As a component of this announcement, Plug Power and Lhyfe will seek opportunities to jointly expand green hydrogen power plants across Europe, generated with PEM electrolysis generation and powered by diesel power. ‘renewable energy. The new initiative will primarily serve mobility applications on and off the road. Finally, the two sides will also consider operation in combination to jointly expand a U. S. -based offshore wind electrolyzer plant. USA
