Exports rose almost 6% to €111. 4 billion, while imports fell 0. 2% to €72. 4 billion, reflecting a global agri-food industry surplus of €39 billion during the first seven months of the year, an accumulation of 18% compared to the same time in 2020.
With regard to the express product categories, the January-July era saw a strong expansion in the export prices of wines (up to €2. 2 billion) and spirits and spirits (up to €1. 1 billion), an increase of 30% and 32% respectively. Significant increases were observed in the price of exports of rapeseed and sunflower oils (506 million euros), chocolate and confectionery (505 million euros). On the other hand, exports of wheat (- 1,300 million euros) and baby food (- 718 million euros) fell drastically, with smaller but also notable decreases for exports of butter (-163 million euros), vegetables (-161 million euros) and milk and whey powder (-100 million euros).
The largest increases in imports were recorded in soybeans (929 million euros), oil cakes (901 million euros), fatty acids and waxes (299 million euros). In turn, the largest decreases in imports were recorded in tropical culmination, nuts and spices (-814 million euros), coffee and unsteasted tea (-230 million euros) and citrus completion (-181 million euros).
