Fashion designer launches store, Maison Black, for black luxury designers

Buyers of luxury clothing from black designers now have a one-stop shop for all their high-end fashion needs. Since its launch last month, Maison Black has been providing consumers with an online experience to purchase black luxury brands.

Tori Nichel, founder and artistic director, founded Maison Black to give emerging and established black designers an opportunity to launch, showcase and grow their businesses, Yahoo Finance reported.

“I created Maison Black to build an ecosystem that fosters design excellence and creativity from black designers. To create a discovery destination where Black-designed products are available worldwide. Our project is to serve the network of black designers to create access, exposure and longevity in the fashion industry,” Nichel said of his New York-based company.

Nichel, a designer, has held various positions in the fashion industry. The graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology and Michigan State University in the past worked as a senior designer at Kenneth Cole. She has also worked as a lead designer at Tibi, designer of her own eponymous brand and design director at Sears Holding Corp. He also made the impression on NBC’s Fashion Star.

Maison Black has recently appeared with six Detroit-born designers who, in October, celebrated the site’s launch with a podium presentation in Detroit titled “From Manhattan to Motown. “Collections come with Apotts (Aaron Potts), Kevan Hall, Isaiah Hemmingway, N’Gai (Nicole King), Truth (Sharryl Cross) and SMcGee Collection (Shawna McGee).

Nichel, also from Detroit, said he chose “this special crop of designers” because “they came together through quarantine and created an engaging network and shared ideas. Our collective connection in Detroit has brought us together. Our long-term artistic visions have encouraged us.

E-commerce only handles execution, but does not interfere with inventory. Retail costs for the diversity of complex, fresh and available luxury pieces range from $298 to $2,600. Nichel’s next big task for Maison Black is to launch a virtual magazine.

“Now we go to the [documentary] series, ‘Black Behind the Brands,’ which I created and produced through management,” he explained. other people previously recognized and magnify their contributions to a multi-billion dollar industry. We intend to disrupt classic retail with revolutionary, culturally inclusive and expressive virtual experiences. »

For the founder, the quality of production and production functions are two vital points when deciding on design. It focuses on women’s clothing, some men’s clothing, jewelry and handbags. Next year, the plan is to expand into interior design.

“Black designers want and deserve a platform and retail area that champions their design excellence and artistic expertise while providing the opportunity to expand their visitor base and/or be a launching pad for their brands and collections,” Nichel said. Designers grow and expand their businesses. Maison Black’s project is to build legacies and ensure sustainability.
