MNPD Identifies Victim of Friday’s Charlotte Avenue Shooting

Police have known a 23-year-old Hermitage neighbor as the victim of a shooting Friday night in West Nashville, according to a news release.

Miguel Ontiveros III, 23, was discovered dead Friday night in his crashed car on Charlotte Avenue at 42nd Avenue North, the Metro Nashville Police Department said.

Witnesses said Ontiveros was driving a pickup truck on Charlotte Avenue before he was shot, according to the statement. Someone in the van shot at Ontiveros’ car, a Hyundai Sonata, in the crash.

The truck also crashed, but the motive force took off toward Interstate 40, according to police, and then deserted on the shoulder of the highway near the I-440 junction.

Ontiveros, whose circle of relatives called him Trey, born in Nashville and “a larger-than-life character,” according to his obituary,

“He had a wonderful personality, he may just make each and every face smile, and he is the soul of the party,” his circle of relatives wrote. “He loved to tease other people just to laugh. “

Her friend, Melissa Harlan, created a GoFundMe to help her circle of family members pay for funeral expenses and said Ontiveros liked baseball and music.

“Trey enjoyed spending time with his circle of family and friends more than anything,” Harlan wrote.

Anyone with information about the case should call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
