Emmanuel Macron has replaced one of the colors of the official French flag, opting for a shade of darker blue.
The French president’s leadership quietly brought the military blue more than a year ago, so no explanation has been given.
A member of Macron’s leadership told French news websites Europe 1 and CNews that there were several reasons for the change.
“There are aesthetic reasons, this blue is elegant,” they told the sites.
But they also said the “very political” resolution had been made “to revive a part of the French Revolution. “
France has used lighter and darker blue tones on its flag for decades.
The country’s army and many official ships have long used the army, but the French state brought a lighter blue to suit the color of the EU flag, President Giscard d’Estaing in 1976.
Macron’s Elysee did not officially announce the change, but told Europe 1 and CNews that the resolution was made on July 13, 2020.
No Frenchman has been ordered to replace his flag.
There would have been a debate around Macron to replace the color, with some claiming that the new look is and collides when placed next to the European flag.
But others were nostalgic for the flag they used in their childhood.
The member under pressure that the new colour is not an anti-EU gesture, Europe 1 and CNews reported.
