Following the release of a recent video of Rep. Lauren Boebert making anti-Muslim comments about Rep. Ilhan Omar, former President Donald Trump on Tuesday called on the Minnesota Democrat to apologize to the Colorado Republican.
Without naming Boebert but obviously in reference to the controversy, Trump said in a statement that “Omar deserves to apologize for marrying his brother, committing large-scale electoral and immigration fraud, wishing Israel’s death and necessarily leaving his former country, which he doesn’t even do. “to have a government, precisely what you would like to see for the United States!”

Trump has in the past accused Omar of marrying her brother, a claim she dismissed as “absolutely false and ridiculous” and the product of conspiracy blogs. The accusation is not proven.
Boebert referred to the unproven claim in comments on the ground of the previous House this month, referring to Omar’s “brother-husband” while opposing Rep. Paul Gosar’s censure for tweeting an edited video depicting him as an anime character attacking Rep. Alexandria Ocasio. Cortez and President Joe Biden.
Since the 2020 election, the former president has made a series of unfounded claims that the election was stolen from him and that Omar committed “large-scale electoral and immigration fraud. “It also gave the impression of targeting the Somali-born parliamentarian for being an immigrant, accusing her of “essentially leaving her former country”.
Trump claimed Omar wanted Israel dead in another unproven claim. Omar made questionable comments about Israel, adding a social media post that gave the impression of comparing the United States and Israel to Hamas and the Taliban. Some of his Democratic colleagues rejected Omar’s comments, which they called anti-Semitic.

In the moot video, Boebert claims that while she was in an elevator with Omar, a Capitol police officer seemed to worry that she was a terrorist.
“‘Well, she doesn’t have a backpack, she deserves to be fine,'” Boebert recalls, referring to the suicide bombings.
Omar “fabricated” the story and said Boebert “believes intolerance has its influence. “
Boebert first tried to retract the comments, but defended them after a tense call with Omar, which the Minnesota Democrat demanded a public apology that Boebert refused to submit.

The controversy escalated Tuesday after disputes enshed among Republicans when Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green attacked Rep. Nancy Mace for condemning Boebert’s comments. A similar video from September was also released.
The dispute between Greene and Mace showed no signs of slowing down on Tuesday, as they continued to target others.
