The 2022 Golden Globes will no longer air on NBC as they have for some time, and the rite has lost some of its prestige after a year of appeal for replaced practices and lack of diversity, but the exhibition will have to continue. This morning (Dec. 13), the Hollywood Foreign Press Association released its list of nominees for the upcoming 79th annual Golden Globe Awards, with many of the greatest and most talented in television and film winning major accolades.
This year’s Best Original Song category is filled with a healthy mix of hitmakers and legends from beyond the years, all of whom have contributed to tunes that have appeared in recently released films. The summary reflects other styles and sounds, and the films in which they are presented are very different from others, which only proves that a fair composition can paint in any type of production.
Current charts like Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, and Jennifer Hudson have garnered nominations for other songs, and any of them can simply win. Beyoncé is in a position for “Be Alive” from the biopic King Richard, Eilish and her brother and collaborator Finneas. are nominated for “No Time to Die” from the James Bond film of the same name, while Hudson earns his first shot at the Globe as composer of Respect’s “Here I Am (Singing My Way Home)” cup. she won in hopes of getting an interim nomination for the same film, in which she played Aretha Franklin, even though the room ended up being too crowded for her to achieve such a victory.
Two beloved songwriting legends, Van Morrison and Carole King, are also nominated this year. Morrison is one of two nominees to feel lonely, while he wrote and produced the Belfast song “Down to Joy,” which attracted several accolades. King joined Hudson for Respect, alongside composer Jamie Alexander Hartman.
To point out the five nominees for Best Original Song, Lin-Manuel Miranda, author of beloved theatrical exhibitions like Hamilton and In The Heights, which have become a feature film in 2021 and is also in the running for a single award (Anthony Ramos won a nod to the most productive functionality through an actor in a film, a musical or comedy). The Emmy, Grammy and Tony champion is in the running for his song “Dos Orugitas” through Encanto.
As for the Best Original Score field, two criteria go back to new nominations, a couple of musicians have their chance to win in the moment, while an artist appears for the first time. Legends Hans Zimmer (Dune) and Alexandre Desplat (The French Dispatch) have once again competed for the honour, and each has taken a pair of wins of over 10 nods. Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood (The Power of the Dog) and Alberto Iglesias (Parallel Mothers), known largely for his outdoor paintings in the film world, are nominated for the time being. This year’s debutant is Germaine Franco (Encanto), who gets her first Golden Globe nomination.
