(Reuters) – Former U. S. President Donald Trump’s social media company said on Tuesday it had reached a generation and cloud deal with Canadian video platform Rumble Inc.
As a component of the deal, Rumble will provide video and streaming for TRUTH Social, Trump’s proposed social media app.
Rumble was introduced in 2013 through tech entrepreneur Chris Pavlovski as a YouTube-style site of choice, and is popular with American conservatives looking for an option for big tech. His most fashionable videos include those of conservative commentators Dan Bongino and Dinesh D’Souza, as well as former Trump White House strategist Steve Bannon. It is subsidized by venture capitalist Peter Thiel and American-turned-author. Senate candidate JDVance through Narya Capital.
On Dec. 1, Rumble announced it would go through the merger with CF Acquisition Corp VI of blank checks for an initial $2. 1 billion business. The combined company will be called Rumble and is expected to be indexed on Nasdaq.
Former Trump management lawyer Michael Ellis joined Rumble in November as the first lawyer and secretary in history.
The announcement from Trump Media and Technology Group came hours after Rumble said it had severed business ties https://prn.to/3dNKzaC with Tremor International and Unruly Group, companies which Rumble said had attempted to censor conservative personality Dan Bongino.
TMTG has provided few details for how it plans to create a social media platform, streaming service, news division and alternative cloud provider to compete against entrenched players in those categories.
The company said on Dec. 6 that U.S. Representative Devin Nunes, the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, will leave Congress to become chief executive officer of the new venture, and will assume the role in January.
Nunes has been a fervent Trump supporter, voting to certify Democrat Joe Biden’s election victory in 2020 following Trump’s false accusations of voter fraud.
