Former U. S. President Donald Trump was scheduled to take office in New York on April 4, 2023, with secret fees akin to document fraud. It would be taken and made public.
While many argued that a photo of Trump would not be taken because he posed no significant flight risk, as well as being a visual and well-documented public figure in the media, that didn’t stop fake photos from spreading.
This one in particular gave the impression of showing Trump in an orange criminal suit:
But it’s not a genuine Trump cliché, nor one that has been intentionally concealed through the media. It’s a virtual manipulation in which Trump’s face has been altered to look like a passport photo.
This photograph was tweeted on the evening of April 3, 2023. Trump will be officially arrested in Manhattan on April 4, 2023. If a passport photo were taken, it would be taken the day after the fake photo was posted.
This virtual manipulation stems from a September 2020 New York magazine article titled “The People v. Donald J. Trump,” which analyzes ongoing criminal cases opposing him. The representation made by Joe Darrow and manipulated through an AFP photograph of Mandel Ngan and a generic photograph of a monkey from the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office.
In addition, according to a law enforcement official who spoke to The New York Times, the construction of the Manhattan criminal court where Trump will be arrested does not have the mandatory apparatus to take Trump’s photo. To download a photo ID, you would have to be taken to the NYPD reservation center or Manhattan detention complex. Trump’s impeachment was largely choreographed by the Secret Service to lessen security risks to him, so traveling to take a photo would be highly unlikely.
This isn’t the first time we’ve verified a fake photo of the former president. In March 2023, another digitally manipulated photograph of Trump went viral before a New York grand jury indicted him. footage purporting to show him being detained at his personal home in Mar-a-Lago, Florida.
Since this is a digitally manipulated photograph of Trump from a September 2020 magazine article and not a genuine snapshot, and because there is no evidence that the media is hiding the genuine shot, we call this claim “false. “
