San Francisco’s Whole Foods Received 560 Calls of Violence, Drugs and Vagrants Before Closing: Report

Michael Shellenberger, a reporter for “San Fransicko” and “Twitter Files,” says Governor Newsom “went out for lunch” by running for president and attacking a member of the Republican Party instead of addressing California crime.

Employees at Whole Foods Market in San Francisco were threatened with guns before the crime-ridden store announced it would close after just over a year in business.

Recordings of 568 emergency calls to the Market Street store over thirteen months showed chaotic incidents, adding homeless people throwing food, screaming, engaging in fights and attempting to defecate on the ground, according to the New York Times.

“The guy [with] machete is back,” according to a 911 call; “Another security guard has just been assaulted,” according to the call.

One caller said security guards at the store were assaulted by a guy armed with a knife, who then doused workers with a chimney extinguisher.

One guy allegedly overdosed on fentanyl and methamphetamine in the bathroom in September, according to the Times.

At least 14 other people were arrested during Whole Foods’ 13-month opening at the center, which included felony charges of theft and battery.

Police noted that criminals were noticed leaving the store with amounts of alcohol and that more than 250 baskets were stolen before the store stored 50 more that also disappeared.

The store reduced its hours in October amid robberies and hostile visitors, one of the store’s managers told the San Francisco Standard. In November, the store replaced its bathroom rules after staff discovered syringes and hoses.

He noted that deteriorating crime and drug situations on the street near the grocery store led to its closure.

“We are only finalizing our Trinity store at this time,” a Whole Foods spokesperson said at the time. “If we believe we can ensure the protection of our team members in the store, we will compare a reopening of our Trinity trade. “

The San Francisco Police Department has lost more than 330 officers since 2017 and its strength of around 1500 officers is below its target of 2100 officers.
