The Joshua Tree music festival ends Sunday at the top of the desert.
The four-day festival has been welcoming music and art lovers since 2003 and strives to create spaces for other groups in the network.
“When you walk in here, the first thing you see is, ‘Welcome, you belong here’ in the rainbow and that’s the atmosphere we need to promote,” said Elsa Greno, a player at the music festival.
Each year, the festival strives to create other sites for other people to find networks and resources.
This year, the festival added a “sober and friendly living room” as well as a “queer living room. “
T Hammidi, the author of “Queer Salon,” says the center aims to create an area and provide education.
“We hang out and find out he’s the father of a kid who just came out, and we start talking about what’s going on and his other ideas. So I feel like the family is starting to function, Hammidi says. . .
Throughout the weekend, participants were able to attend other sessions at the festival site.
“We have a mourning organization this afternoon. It sounds like a heavy thing, but it’s a component of LGBTQ culture, to acknowledge our feelings,” Hammidi said.
Another that sets Joshua Tree Music Festival apart from others is its “Kidsville”.
“It was amazing to see such a kid-friendly festival,” said attendee Ali Momeni.
Some parents take their children to a festival for the first time and it’s a success.
“We, as festival goers, look for music, we will bond with new people. We do it by talking. And kids do it all the time while playing. And it was magical to see them locate other children. “like them,” said player Aparna Wilder.
In total, around 3000 other people attended the Joshua Tree music festival over the weekend.
