GRAND FORKS – Members of the Grand Forks City Council and the Park Council Commission will meet again to discuss the prospect of a multi-use indoor sports facility and aquatic center in the city.
The joint assembly will take a position at five o’clock in the afternoon. on Tuesday, May 30 at the city-owned downtown HIVE building.
The assembly will also review the completed operation and facility-related pricing, as well as forward-looking tactics in which the city can fund projects.
The preferred location for the indoor sports facility is at the Alerus Center and the preferred location for the Aquatic Center is on the Choice Health and Fitness website.
One possible investment option that has been discussed in the past is the 30-year extension of the existing 0. 75% sales tax on Alerus Center. This sales tax is already raising about $10 million in recovery for debt service and Alerus Center capital desires.
Additional funding features for services include personal fundraising, bonds, and other forms of funding.
Since the last joint meeting, Hellyer said the network user teams have shared their opinion on preferential tariffs for facilities, which is the next step in the post-feasibility study procedure.
“Some of the fees we’ve based on what other communities pay for fees, the national average, that kind of thing,” he said. “This will be the most difficult component with those user groups. Possibly it would be more than they need. “They are used to paying and we will have to find out if it is imaginable if they can pay that amount. Or if it doesn’t matter. That’s where the next one is headed.
