Brixmor plans to raze Barn Cinema for medical, retail and dining space

The Barn Plaza shopping center, which stretches along Easton Road in Doylestown Township, aims to give a new look to downtown, which has lost several tenants over the past two years.

As the highly anticipated Whole Foods Market prepares to open later this year, Bill Greimel, vice president of Brixmor Property Group, recently oversaw Doylestown Township with plans to remodel the property.

Brixmor, owner and operator of Barn Plaza, plans to extend the façade of Whole Foods along downtown, a new Barnes

“We’ve had a lot of turmoil, but we’re going to get a lot of smart news out of it,” Greimel told supervisors at the meeting. “We’re very excited to provide the blueprint for what we’re going to do with Barn Plaza. “.

Additionally, Brixmor representatives will be asking the township’s zoning board for variances to redevelop the Applebee’s Grill + Bar and the Regal Barn Cinema, both of which closed in 2023, leaving major holes in the shopping plaza.

Greimel told officials both buildings would be demolished and replaced with retail stores and restaurants.

According to Greimel, the use of multiple tenants is planned for the former Applebee’s, where an as-yet-unnamed business, with orders, would have a drive-thru service.

Three “high-end” buildings will update the old movie theater, adding a 7,600-foot doctor’s office, 24,000 feet of retail and 9,000 feet of restaurant, Greimel said.

“Our plans include creating a cohesive appearance throughout the shopping center and will feature wood and natural stone to achieve a consistent aesthetic.  Additional access to Route 611 near the former theater will provide improved ingress and egress options for visitors,’ said Maria Pace, a Brixmor spokesperson.

The zoning relief, Greimel said, is dimensional and will adjust the current use of the mall.
