Budget-friendly travel.
From reasonable airfares to discounted hotels and wrong rates, there are plenty of ways to save money when you travel, but what about at the airport?
Everyone knows airports can be (hello, a $12 glass of wine), but some hubs are more than others, according to The Points Guy’s annual list.
Newark Liberty International Airport was named the most expensive airport in the United States, followed by John F. Kennedy (2) and Dulles International Airport (3).
San Francisco International Airport ranks fourth in terms of pricing, followed by LaGuardia International Airport (5). Unfortunately for the citizens of the Big Apple, all three of New York’s airports are among the top ten most sensible airports.
For the most expensive and affordable airports in the US, TPG analyzed the most common prices at the country’s largest airports, looking for the average value of domestic airfare, the value of luggage cart rentals and parking fees .
In general, airports in the Northeast and Midwest are more expensive, while hubs in Florida and California are more affordable.
The investigation also examined the most expensive coffee cups at U. S. airports and found that New York’s LaGuardia Airport held this dubious honor with a coffee cup that cost $3. 10. Portland International Airport named the most affordable, at $2. 15.
