Troon’s new station continues to triumph as it rises from the ashes of a devastating fire 3 years ago.
Netpaintings Rail is making progress on the tracks with revitalization paintings on the station building, whose platform and canopy have been destroyed. As part of the new station project, a new ticket and waiting area will be built, as well as a “cloakroom” for other people with disabilities.
Significant progress has been made in recent weeks with the installation of trusses (the painted frames that support roofs), as well as slate and lead paints on roofs. Exterior cinder blocks were also laid to create the walls of the building.
Helen Agnew, Network Rail’s assignments manager, said: “Being so close to the platform and across the station bridge means the assignment still has an interested audience and the network’s reaction has been overwhelmingly positive as new construction has taken shape.
“The building looks imposing from the outside and big on the inside. While it mirrors the construction of Platform 2 from the outside, we have the opportunity to create an internal design that will work better for the station operationally while also being larger. fulfill the wishes of other people who travel on our railroad.
Local MP Siobhian Brown toured the interior of the new station and praised the progress, saying: “I am very happy to see the progress that has been made in rebuilding since I first saw it in October last year to ‘inaugurate the project’.
“The network is looking for the back of their station and seeing a structure in place is a visual sign that this is becoming a reality. Listening to and seeing the internal design plans, I am confident that what is being created here provides tremendous advances in services for the city’s many visitors and meets the network’s aspirations for the rebuilt station.
