A woman has gone viral on TikTok after denouncing several fast fashion brands, adding Fashion Nova and Shein, which she believes can cause cancer.
Ebony (@thesecretlifeofeb) posted the video on her account 4 days ago. As of Sunday, its music video had garnered more than 1. 4 million views.
“NOVA FASHION CLOTHING CAN CAUSE CANCER,” Ebony wrote in overlay text.
In her video, Ebony further explained the risks associated with buying garments from Fashion Nova and its brands.
“Fast fashion makes us sick,” he said. And it’s not just about Fashion Nova. . . Name a popular brand and it will work. “
Ebony has specifically challenged Fashion Nova, as the logo has a Proposition 65 warning on its site. This precaution, according to media reports, is a precautionary protocol required by California’s Proposition 65, which requires that all products manufactured with exposure to chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects, and other reproductive disorders must carry a precautionary label.
“Some of you may be wondering: What is it about the clothing that compels you to publish Proposition 65?” asked Ebony, incredulous.
In summary, the author of the content said that the precaution was due to the fact that Fashion Nova does not use plant fabrics, such as linen, cotton or silk.
“Most brands use polyester or some kind of polyester blend,” Ebony said. Ebony also added that rayon or viscose, two popular fibers in clothing, are linked to serious fitness problems.

In fact, some evidence suggests that some fast fashion brands, including Shein, contain high levels of these chemicals.
