Family is something many of us take for granted. For children in foster care, it can be difficult to understand family if you don’t know the family.
“Children have to leave their homes, they have to leave their parents, they have to leave everything that belongs to them,” said Katherine Craig, executive director of the Anna’s House Foundation.

Residents live in the network rent-free, must be at least twenty-one years old, pass a background check, and have at least four youth in care. Something DJ Eastep and his circle of family members definitely qualify for. “Right now we have nine,” said DJ Eastep, Foster’s father.
He and his wife have had a hobby for young people and this network not only helps young people, but also helps them achieve what they feel called to do. “It’s a smart position. In fact, we’re adopting the technique that’s needed. “a village to raise a child, and everyone in that network works together,” Eastep said.
Part of this is made up of communal dinners for parents, as well as visits to the pediatrician and psychiatric counseling for children and parents, which eases some of the burden on adoptive parents. ” That’s what we do. Kids are our life and we love doing it,” Eastep said.
