The initiative responds to AkzoNobel’s ambitious goal of halving its carbon emissions by 2030.
AkzoNobel recently finalized a primary investment allocation at its production facilities located in Bac Ninh province, near Hanoi, Vietnam. This progression points to the company’s presence in Asia and at the same time underscores its commitment to sustainable production practices. The allocation related to the addition of five new powdered products. coating lines and a line dedicated to the production of water-based products suitable for the customer’s electronics market, adding computers, wireless devices and household appliances. The total investment for these innovations amounts to €18. 5 million.
Jeff Jirak, general manager of AkzoNobel’s powder coatings business, was positive about the effect of those powder coating lines. He highlighted its role in facilitating expansion among customers, ensuring timely service delivery, and contributing to a more sustainable future. The capacity expansion of the Bac Ninh site is strategically located to meet the developing demand in the northern region of Vietnam, complementing the company’s existing facility in Dong Nai, which serves the southern component of the country. This resolution allows AkzoNobel to optimize its production processes to meet the diverse demands of the Vietnamese market. The brief also included the structure of a fully automated warehouse dedicated to the customer’s electronic activities and the implementation of devices and technologies to improve productivity and efficiency. In addition, the installation of a new line of water-based customer electronics is expected to contribute to emissions relief across the price chain.
