The videos gave the impression of showing the infantrymen masturbating without knowing they were being filmed through hidden cameras. Investigators decided that “the highest number of identifiable victims” appeared to be attributed to two Guam-founded ships, the USS Emory S. Land and the USS Frank Cable, sister ships founded in Guam.
The search warrant requested through the Naval Criminal Investigative Service was opened in U. S. District Court. It was first reported in the U. The September 2020 search warrant sought data on the owners of an account named “playguy148” on the PornHub website, adding the related email address, registration date and last login, and IP addresses used through the account.
According to federal court documents, the NCIS was notified on Jan. 8, 2020, about videos showing U. S. service members posted on the online video page PornHub. com. Some of the videos showed military workers dressed in identifiable uniforms, and some videos gave the impression of carrying the call of each of the victims, titles that court documents described as follows: “[U. S. NAVY RANK] [LAST NAME]. “Other videos had calls like “Horny Marine” or “Horny Sailor. “

On January 13, 2020, the NCIS agent discovered that 86 videos had first been posted online, and two days later, that number increased to 102 videos. The NCIS contacted MG FreesitesLTD, which operates the Pornhub. com website, to tell them that the videos had been “surreptitiously filmed” and asked that the content be removed and account details retained.
On Jan. 16, a Pornhub representative showed NCIS that the content had been removed.
The NCIS agent who executed the warrant alleged that the account owners violated federal law by engaging in video voyeurism and illegal interception of communications. The charges are punishable by one to five years in prison, plus a felony fine.
A request for comment sent to the Navy and NCIS was not promptly returned.
USS Emory S. Land and USS Frank Cable are sister shipments of the Emory S-class submarine vessels. Each shipment carries about 900 U. S. sailors and merchant mariners. Naval Base Guam is home to Submarine Squadron 15, a naval special warfare unit.
The case comes amid developing legal considerations over sex videos uploaded to the internet without consent, adding hidden camera videos and deeply fake AI-generated content.
