Who could the Panthers target on the second day of the NFL Draft?
Carolina arguably wouldn’t make the first pick in the second round after moving up to the last pick in the first round Thursday night, however, there are still several quality players on the board when they return to No. 39.
Here are my top 10 most sensible players the Panthers will be targeting on day two.
10. T. E. Ben Sinnott, Kansas State
Sinnott might be late in the second round, but I have a feeling he’ll still be available when the Panthers are in the 65th spot. A flexible tight end that can line up in the backfield, outside, in the slot. , connected to the O-line: There are so many things Dave Canales can do with a player like this.
9. EDGE Marshawn Kneeland, West Michigan
Kneeland passes early in the second round, given that he is the most productive passer left on the board. I like the potential, but it’s far from a finished product. I sense the preference and desire to add merit in this draft, yet taking Kneeland to the top right now would be like forcing a pick out of necessity.
8. DT Maason Smith, LSU
Ejiro Evero likes the length he has up front on the defensive line and this organization can get even bigger with Smith, who is 6’6″, 315 lbs. It has positional flexibility and can offer a rushed presence with a bit of development.
7. C Jackson Powers-Johnson, Oregon
Trying to pick who is in the most sensible middle of this draft is like breaking your hair, but it would give Frazier the slightest advantage. JPJ, in my opinion, is just as athletic and doesn’t have as much starting experience as West Virginia. That said, I think you’re ready for it from day one. He has everything you need to be a highly productive player at the next level.
6. C Zach Frazier, West Virginia
If Frazier catches up with you, it’s over. You’re not going anywhere. This guy loves to play football loudmouths and harass people. This wrestling backdrop appears on the forums with lineman D being mutilated play after play. Frazier played a leading role in West Virginia, bringing the Power Five into the race.
5. DT Braden Fiske, State of Florida
For me, Fiske popped up on my radar at the combine. He moves well for a big guy. Honestly, he’s the defensive version of Zach Frazier. He plays with merit and endurance that is hard to match. Over the past two years, he has 21 tackles for loss and 12 sacks. This would immediately help the Carolina interior to hurry.
4. L. B. Edgerrin Cooper, Texas A
The Panthers don’t necessarily want a linebacker, however, if they take the most productive player available, Cooper will be considered. This guy was all over the box last season for the Aggies, recording 84 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and 8 sacks. He also forced two fumbles and recovered a fumble.
3. C. B. Ennis Rakestraw, Missouri
Rakestraw has built his own over the past two seasons in Missouri, with a total of 70 tackles, 5. 5 tackles for loss, 16 passes defensed and one interception. He plays with a physique and swagger comparable to that of the current Panther Jaycee Horn. You can throw it on an island and rest assured that it will do its homework and gain more than it loses in one by one.
2. C. B. Cooper DeJean, Iowa
Baseball player at full speed. Place that child anywhere in the box and they’ll make great plays. He’s the most flexible corner player left in this draft. You can safely dispose of it indoors, outdoors, or even deeply. DeJean has thrown seven interceptions over the past two seasons, 3 of which have been returned for touchdowns. He will also be important in punt returns, returning 31 punts for an average of 13. 1 yards per return. I don’t know how it was awarded in the first round.
1. C. B. Kool-Aid McKinstry, Alabama
McKinstry is another guy that I thought had no chance of making it to the second round. I don’t think he’s going to be around when the Panthers are 39, but if he is, it might not be long before Dan Morgan arrived. Make the decision. He has All-Pro potential and will make an impact from day one.
