Farm owners hoping to turn one of their sheds into two pickleball courts have been told that construction is required.

Pickleball Central UK Ltd, in Lower Cound Farm, last month implemented a replacement of the use of one of its farm sheds.
Lately, the company hosts pickleball games on the badminton courts in Shrewsbury, and the plaintiffs hoped that the old potato garage shed would allow pickleball players to exercise year-round.
The request stated that the work would consist of smoothing the existing concrete floor and portraying the surface, portraying the need for any external structure.
He adds: “The company already exists under the name ‘Pickleball Central Ltd’, which is currently registered on the farm but has to lease badminton courts in Shrewsbury.
“Shrewsbury Sports Council is aware that there are few sports facilities available, so allowing this replacement in use would be a small step forward in allowing a greater sporting offering to existing and developing businesses through staffing for a ‘head office’ where a handful of clients can be trained in this new sport, allowing year-round practice in preparation for members to get enough exercise for international tournaments.
“There will be no effect on the existing agricultural activities of this arable farm. This is only to use the now unused shed and will provide an essential part-time source of income on site for the owner of Pickleball Central Ltd. , who also lives on the estate.
But the planning branch of Shropshire Council informed the applicant that a use replacement application was not suitable and that permission would be required for planning.
The Notice of Decision, published last week, states: “The domain of the proposed progression exceeds 500 m2 and does not meet the criteria set out in the Urban and Rural Development (Permitted General Development) (England) Order 2015 (as amended). Annex 2, Part 3, Class R.
“That’s why construction is needed. “
