Roger Ver, also known as Bitcoin Jesus and a BTC promoter and investor, has been charged with $48 million in tax evasion.

The news follows an April 30 statement in which the U. S. Department of Justice issued a statement to the U. S. Department of Justice. The U. S. The revelations show that Ver controlled up to 70,000 BTC in June 2017, before the cryptocurrency market surged. The sale of some of those assets earned him as much as $240 million, according to an indictment dated Feb. 15 and unsealed on April 29.

It is alleged that he hired a law firm that filed false tax returns, underestimating the amount of Bitcoin that he and his two companies, MemoryDealers. com Inc. and Agilestar. com Inc. , owned.

The charges state that Ver defrauded the IRS of about $48 million by failing to report capital gains on his investments. Ver is charged with mail fraud, tax evasion and filing false tax returns.

Following his arrest by the Spanish authorities, the Ministry of Justice plans to extradite him to stand trial in the United States.
