On April 24, 2024, Blizzard Entertainment announced that it was looking for new admins to help expand a new, recently unnamed title. There have been no data or clues circulating lately to suggest what kind of game this new task developed through Blizzard Entertainment is, not even on the director job candidates page on Blizzard’s website.
Blizzard recently canceled its long-awaited survival project, called Odyssey. Microsoft acquired Blizzard last year as part of its acquisition of Activision and would likely look to capitalize on all those old franchises sooner rather than later.
At this point, we can speculate on what kind of game this assignment will become. Could this unforeseen assignment be a new in-game logo or new access to one of Blizzard Entertainment’s old franchises like Starcraft?
In fact, that’s an option since, according to an interview Jez Corden conducted with Phil Spencer in 2023, the Xbox CEO mentions that Blizzard Entertainment still harbors a preference and fondness for revisiting some of its old IPs. However, we should all be cautious and hopeless. up.
It would be wonderful to see Blizzard Entertainment return to the Starcraft franchise to create Starcraft 3, as we haven’t noticed an update to this series since the release of StarCraft: Remastered in 2017. Personally, though, I’d like to see this mysterious task come along. to fruition. be a new logo, a classic real-time strategy game from Warcraft.
“In the case of Blizzard games in particular, what I’d like to do is chat with Blizzard executives to see where they have hobbies. I say all this, but I’m not saying at all that Blizzard doesn’t have a hobby for Blizzard games. I’m also reviving franchises, I know that from my visits to the team. Surely they have a hobby in this area. There’s a lot of excitement about the odds we can all achieve together. But so do I. I need our enthusiasts and consumers to know that I do. Don’t talk about games just to endlessly provoke. . . If other people have noticed how we’ve brought things up in the past, there’s some sort of reconciliation of those allusions later on. . . . I’m not one to consult essayists and other people. It may not take place in the time frame that people would like, but when I joke, there’s something there.
I know this will never realistically happen, as World of Warcraft is the largest MMORPG on the planet and lately it’s the defining symbol of the Warcraft franchise. Still, it would be great to see Warcraft return to its real-time strategy roots, even if it’s just for a single game. .
Of course, there are other odds on the table as to what this new game could be. Perhaps Blizzard Entertainment is looking to revive StarCraft: Ghost, a canceled first-person shooter spin-off of StarCraft?Sequel to the fan-favorite MOBA, Heroes of the Storm, compatible with cross-platforming like Pokemon Unite?Or can Blizzard create something absolutely unforeseen like a single-player RPG set in the Warcraft universe or something crazy and silly like an Overwatch dating sim where you can have sex with Overwatch’s iconic heroes?Well, maybe not with this one.
Whatever this new task is, we’ll be here to bring you the latest news and let you know if you have a chance of becoming Blizzard’s next most productive Xbox or PC game.
