NEWS. . . BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) experienced true happiness for a moment in Emmerdale after Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) officially identified him as his father.
Nate, as viewers know, came into Cain’s life four years ago and, feeling at a disadvantage compared to his father, seduced Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb), his own stepmother, into taking her to bed in order to teach Cain a lesson.
Amazingly, Cain managed to find the strength to forgive the son he didn’t know he had, and the two even forged something resembling a relationship.
But it’s as if the father-son duo made a genuine breakthrough in this branch on Friday, April 12, when Nate officially decided to call Cain “daddy” to his face. Cain struggled to hide his smile, feeling all warm and confused for a moment.
However, sadness soon arises that going on a smart date with her son Nate comes at the cost of a smart date with her long-lost brother, Caleb Miligan (William Ash).
Caleb, as enthusiasts will recall, embarked on a passionate affair last year with Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh), who was married to Nate at the time. Nate was furious when he found out, as was Cain, who soon disowned his brother.
Gradually, however, the ice melted between the two brothers, and Cain even visited Caleb in the hospital earlier this week after his surgery.
Caleb hoped this would be a good sign for their relationship, but Cain eventually broke his heart by revealing that they just couldn’t be in each other’s lives because he had to side with Nate at that point.
Nate, who is a hypocrite for what he did when he arrived in town, made it clear that he and Cain would not have run away for long if he allowed Caleb into his life, hence the explanation for why the mechanic cut ties.
But this turned out to be much more complicated than Cain had anticipated, as the tough guy later noted with envy of his brother, whom he feels a deep affection for, knowing that he can never be in his life.
O Cain. I’m crying, I promise.
Emmerdale continues on Monday 15 April at 19:30 on ITV1 and ITVX.
