After a ride, the 2023 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport is the newest style in Bugatti’s lineup of ultra-exotic 16-cylinder supercars, all capable of driving at over 230 mph. The Chiron Super Sport has been in production since 2018, but the Bugatti Veyron that disappeared in 2005 remains. All the diversity of Veyrons and Chirons represent exclusive cars in automotive history, with 16 cylinders, 8. 0 liters and more than 1,000 horsepower.
In the case of the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport, the 8. 0-liter 16-cylinder engine generates 1,578 horsepower and reaches a top speed of 420 km/h. Despite its weight of two tonnes, it reaches 100 km/h in 2. 3 seconds. The base price of the Super Sport costs $3. 7 million, but based on the way it’s been specified, it’s closer to $4. 3 million. It has several attractive features, adding the transparent “Skyview” roof. The front is painted in silver, which contrasts with the carbon fiber. which starts at the roof and A-pillars and extends all the way to the rear, looks fantastic.

The rest of the interior is bathed in comfortable leather with high-quality steel trim. From the comfortable driver’s seat, a three-hundred-mph speedometer looks you through the flat-bottomed guide wheel. A idler that provides very good centering accuracy and a shifting feel, making the Chiron Super Sport look much smaller than its 4,500-pound curb weight suggests.
The original Bugatti Chiron was introduced in 2016, with a total of 500 examples produced before ending production in 2023. This number includes all variants. The first Chiron had narrower openings above the bumper, but the Pure Sport that preceded the Super Sport had larger openings which were discovered in this version. So you have a sort of hybrid between the front of the Pure Sport and the longer rear of the Super. Sport to aerodynamics and offer a more noticeable top speed.

As someone who started his racing career in a 1969 Plymouth GTX with a 440 engine and strong torque, I’m used to the idea that top cars don’t seem so fast to me. My 2023 Dodge Demon 170 is fast for me. And supercars like the McLaren 765LT and 750S seem fast to me. The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport is supernatural to me. Driving it down congested Highway One, south of Monterey, didn’t leave much room for high-speed explosions. But the few times I put it on the ground were enough to make the point clear: this. Est. Fast.
Driving the Chiron Super Sport in traffic is easy, locating the place to reach the terrain is difficult
Honestly, I had to be very careful with the application of the gas, even more than I imagined. The Chiron Super Sport can deliver more than 1. 5g of force when employing release control and can reach 170 mph in about 10 seconds. Yes, read that right. So it’s an incredibly fast and capable car, just as it’s intended to be. But it’s also an incredibly livable and maneuverable car. And if you manage to get the $3 million to $4 million label out of your head, find that it’s a comfortable, quiet nature.

What interests me about a car like this is that when the Veyron debuted 20 years ago, the concept of a multimillion-dollar, high-speed, ultra-specialized vehicle was pretty exclusive. But while driving this car in Monterey, I was surrounded by multimillion-dollar limited production automobiles. What’s unique to Bugatti today is its historic calling and how leaders will leverage this history to remain the applicable logo in a seven-figure global car drowning.

But there was a really magical moment, for about 10 years, when Veyrons and Chirons had an elegance of their own and didn’t have much to compete with. And I think it’s going to be a special time for those types of cars, which makes me really grateful that I was able to drive one.
