An application has been submitted for plan permitting for the new Spalding Pool and Recreation Center.
The £26 million allocation has been validated and will be assessed by the South Holland District Council’s planning officers.
Work is expected to begin this winter and the main construction of the Health and Wellness Center will be open by summer 2026.
A second phase will be presented in the coming weeks, in which the allocation of housing for additional care next to the existing pool will be added.
The first phase includes a two-pool swimming pool, a paddling pool, a gym, a fitness center, fitness rooms, wellness areas, a café and play areas.
Also included in the main project is a 3G synthetic football pitch and a separate multi-purpose playground.
The district council claims that 5,000 citizens responded to its query, which led to some adjustments to the proposals.
The authority says this includes more restrooms available on the first floor, adjustments to venue security outside of opening hours, adjustments to the seating arrangement for spectators in the pool, and the inclusion of a raised finish in the pool for the start of the festival. .
However, it is expected that the new facilities will have a sauna, as has been the case lately.
A spokesperson for the regional council said: “Unfortunately, within the budget available for the project, not all ideas can be added to the plans.
“Due to the incredibly high prices for installation, operation and maintenance, the commission will not be able to integrate sauna or steam room facilities, but will prioritise a wider diversity of opportunities for sport, wellness and physical activity.
“In existing plans, it is also not conceivable to build a multi-level balcony or spectator seating for the pool, but around 250 permanent and transient seats will be arranged around the main pool for competitions, while ensuring that the facilities meet the wishes of the wider community and everyday users.
Councillor Gary Taylor, sponsor of the council’s task, said: “I am pleased that we are able to take another vital step towards fulfilling this incredible task and creating a new logo facility that will meet the wishes of our entire network for many years to come. . .
“Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to participate in the consultation procedure or helped shape the designs so far. Feedback from those who will visit, enjoy and live near the site is invaluable in ensuring that we can create a de facto, transformative and widely used hub for the citizens of South Holland.
