Let’s face it, once you’ve lived somewhere long enough, be proud of your city. You’ll probably brag about it when out-of-town family or friends visit. You’re also likely to brag about its good looks or its landscape. You’ll find yourself saying, “What a beautiful neighborhood!” as you tour the city.
Imagine doing this for years, only to have some nonsense that isn’t founded in your city or even your state, call it the ugliest city in Iowa. Waa waaaa!
That’s precisely what the online site travel. alot has done (I also hate that “many” is a word). Well, they claim to have done their studies and discovered our ugliest city, but what are they doing?Not many.

The website, admitting that Ames is a city, calls it “boring,” which I guess is ugly. Why is a city with a D1 school boring?They literally offer soccer, basketball, volleyball, softball, and other high-profile sports. for which anyone can get tickets and enjoy.
How does the fact that George’s Strait passes through your city and sells 60,000 tickets makes it a boring city?
The ISU even describes its headquarters in Ames as an “award-winning city. “
In equity with travel. alot. com, they claim to have gotten some of their results, they have the ugliest cities in the 50 states, of actual residents. They’re also building a new entertainment district called CYTown, which I think will look a bit like the Iowa City traveling mall.
So, what is the ugliest city in Iowa?Is this your people? I guess it depends on each individual, but I guess we can all agree that there are much uglier cities in this country and much more boring than Ames.
