Is Google News down? Users are furious over a primary outage that leaves the popular “down” for more than an hour

GOOGLE News suffered an outage and a mysterious “something went wrong” error message popped up for over an hour today.

It features a variety of the latest news from around the world.

People looking for the service were left with a blank page with no news links.

None of the theme pages, nor the “For You” tab, worked either.

But Google’s main search engine continued to function normally.

An increase in court cases on social media began to appear around 1:30 p. m. BST/8:30 a. m. ET with reports from around the world.

The Down Detector has noticed an increase in the number of reports, peaking at more than 1,700.

“Well. . . the Google News tab is officially broken,” one user wrote.

“Is Google news search interrupted or not published for anything else?Every search doesn’t produce results,” commented another.

A third added: “Google News being broken feels extremely ominous.”

The explanation for the reason for the outage is still unclear, however, Google News returned to general status shortly after 14:30 BST/09:30 ET.

The outage came amid a difficult few weeks for Google after its latest AI search engine feature was ridiculed for spitting out information.

AI Overviews falsely claimed that Obama was the first Muslim president of the United States and advised going out in the sun, using glue as a topping for pizza, and eating a rock a day to keep the doctor away.

In a blog post published Thursday, Google’s head of search, Liz Reid, blamed the errors on so-called “data gaps” and other people asking questions.

“There’s nothing like having millions of people with this feature with a lot of never-before-seen searches,” he said.

“We also uncovered absurd new research, aimed at producing erroneous results. “

Although Google News will be coming back soon, Google’s old ones have been permanently removed.

According to Killed By Google, this number has lately risen to 295.
