UmaSofia Srivastava, who crowned Miss Teen USA in 2023, resigned from her position on Wednesday after “months of suffering with this decision,” two days after Noelia Voigt resigned as Miss USA.

“After careful consideration, I have to resign because I see that my private values no longer fully align with the direction of the organization,” Srivastava wrote on Instagram, without elaborating.

Srivastava and Miss USA responded to requests for comment.

Representing New Jersey, Srivastava crowned the winner of the Miss Teen USA pageant, held in Reno, Nevada, in September.

Her bio on Miss Teen USA’s website describes Srivastava as “the first Mexican Indian Miss Teen USA,” adding that she “hopes to be a U. N. ambassador. “She did not immediately respond to requests for comment Wednesday.

On Monday, after Voigt announced her resignation from Miss USA to focus on her intellectual health, hypotheses abounded online about the reasons for her decision. Pageant enthusiasts noticed that the first letters of Ms. Voigt’s first 11 sentences read, “I am silenced. “»

After Srivastava’s statement, many other people showed their support for the two women in many comments posted on Instagram and other social media.
