Immediately after a guilty verdict was announced in connection with his secret cash trail, former President Donald Trump turned to a tried-and-true tactic: fundraising.
But he couldn’t, as his fundraising page crashed.
Trump was the first president convicted of a felony when a New York City jury found that the former president had falsified business records in an effort to influence the 2016 election through a secret payment to former adult film star Stormy Daniels.
The jury found Trump guilty of all 34 charges he faced. But the president geared up and promptly launched a fundraising crusade on Truth Social.
“I’m a political prisoner!” The message read, with an address to WinRed, the Republican National Committee’s fundraising site.
But right away, those who came to the wedding were not supposed to make a donation.
First of all, the site threw up a 404 error before being removed.
Then, the page said, “Under maintenance. Our engineers work to provide you with an experience. We’ll be back soon. “
Approximately 30 minutes after closing, the site is operational again.
While it’s unclear exactly what caused the site’s downfall, Trump enthusiasts have been willing to help him as he waged quite a few legal battles, and his guilty conviction likely drew swarms of traffic to the site.
In a statement, Trump called the trial rigged, corrupt and shameful, asserted his innocence and called on the electorate to support him in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
“I’m a very innocent guy and OK, I’m fighting for our country,” Trump said. “I’m fighting for our Constitution. Our whole country is being manipulated right now. “
