(RTTNews) – PNM Resources, Inc. (PNM) announced Friday that the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (NMPRC) has an application through its wholly-owned subsidiary Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM) for new energy resources to be added through summer 2026.
The new resources, totaling 410 megawatts of solar and battery storage capacity, are expected to meet growing demand from PNM’s retail customers. Peak demand for PNM’s formula peaked in the summers of 2022 and 2023.
The approved resources come with 100 megawatts of solar power and 310 megawatts of battery garage, in addition to a 60-megawatt battery garage facility that will be owned through PNM.
The PNM was implemented in October 2023 after launching a tender in late 2022 to identify potential new resources available to serve consumers in 2026.
The integration of those resources, along with other renewable and battery storage resources approved in the past, will increase PNM’s resource capacity to 75% carbon-free by 2026.
