PHOENIX — A long stretch of road between the Wickenburg and Kingman spaces reopened Thursday afternoon after a violent and fatal collision the day before, the government said.

A 90-mile stretch of U. S. 93 was closed after four vehicles crashed at mile marker 179 near Congress, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Traffic on northbound U. S. 93 was closed on State Route 71, and southbound highway was closed at the Interstate 40 junction until 4 p. m.

The crash happened around 7:45 a. m. after a northbound truck crossed the median line for an unknown reason, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

The truck then collided head-on with a southbound advertising vehicle and caught fire. Two advertising cars were also trapped in the rubble.

“One of the enforcement vehicles and the trailer of a second enforcement vehicle overturned in the collision,” the sergeant said. DPS said,” Eric Andrews said in a media advisory. “The fire spread into the brush in the area, but was brought under control by local firefighters who responded to the collision. “

The driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene, DPS said. No data was provided on the condition of the other drivers.

The site of the twist of fate is approximately 6 km northwest of SR 71, approximately 90 km from downtown Phoenix.

Although the incident occurred outside the valley, it affects motorists traveling between Phoenix and Las Vegas. US 93, which connects US 60/Grand Avenue to southeast Wickenburg, is the shortest direction between the two cities.
