After Indianapolis has hosted seven U. S. Olympic diving events since 1984, the level is moving to Knoxville, Tennessee, to be a team for the Paris Olympics.

Indianapolis diver Sarah Bacon, 27, will be part of her first Olympic team after narrowly missing out 3 years ago. She finished third in the 3-meter events and the first two did it.

Bacon, the Cardinal Ritter state champion, has one of the most decorated school jumpers of all time. She is a five-time NCAA champion in Minnesota. Bacon was the Big Ten Female Athlete of the Year in 2021, winning two NCAA titles and a World Championships. Silver medal of the Cup.

She has two silver medals at the World Championships in the 1-meter event, which is an Olympic event.

Two former Indiana University jumpers who won silver medals in Tokyo, Andrew Capobianco and Jessica Parratto, will compete in new Olympics.

Parratto, who has come out of retirement, returns with Delaney Schnell in the synchronized 10-meter. Most recently, the men won a bronze medal at the 2023 World Championships.

Capobianco won a medal with Michael Hixon, who has since retired, and will aspire to be part of that team with IU’s Quinn Henninger.

Capobianco competed in the 3-meter singles, competing against Carson Tyler and Henninger of the Hoosiers. Tyler won the 3-meter and 10-meter at the NCAA Championships in March in Indianapolis.

At 3 meters is Tyler Downs, who beat David Boudia for a spot on the team in 2021. Downs, at Purdue, earned an NCAA name in the 10-yard field in 2022 but later dropped out of college.

Another Purdue NCAA champion, Brandon Loschiavo, finished 11th in Tokyo in the 10-meter event. Purdue has sent a platform jumper to one of the last 4 Olympic Games.

Loschiavo will face 17-year-old Josh Hedberg of Noblesville for the spot. Hedberg competed at the World Championships in 2022 and 2024.

Boudia, 35, a four-time Olympic medalist, had participated in each of the last five Olympic teams. He retired in 2022 and became a coach at Purdue. Boudia was recently promoted to head coach after Adam Soldati resigned due to an ALS diagnosis. .
