Florida Rep. Byron Donalds said over the weekend that the Supreme Court deserves to “step in” in the conviction of Donald Trump, something that isn’t entirely unexpected given that Donalds is a Republican who is considered a candidate to become Trump’s vice president, and that saying such things is essentially a prerequisite for employment.

Speaking to Meet the Press on Sunday, Donalds told Peter Alexander: “President [Mike] Johnson, including myself, and many Americans think the Supreme Court interferes in this case. (Shortly after Trump’s conviction, the House speaker told Fox News, “I think the justices of the Court — I know many of them personally — are deeply involved in this, as are we. So I think they’re going to set the record straight. Last week, Politico reported that Trump was furious with Johnson, in a phone call: “We want to undo this. “)

Claiming – as Trump does – that the secret trial was staged to “interfere” in the presidential election, Donalds told Alexander: “This is being done for political purposes. Everyone knows how the judicial formula works in New York. The only option to reverse this scenario will occur in two or three years. . . That’s why what happened in Lower Manhattan was aimed at interfering with an election. “

Donalds would be on a short list of candidates Trump is considering for vice president, an organization that includes Senators J. D. At an election event in Michigan on Saturday, Trump told attendees, “[Donalds] is on the list of possible vice presidents. Would anyone like to see it? I found that his call tops the list. Asked during his interview with Meet the Press if he would be willing to take over the presidency if necessary, Donalds replied: “I think I would have the ability to step in. I’m really pretty smart. I can literally examine disorders very well. It is a matter of criteria. These are logical flows. It’s about how you make decisions in the end. . . Me in myself? One hundred percent, I do, so, you know, let’s see what President Trump decides. I’m going to help in everything I do.

In May, when asked on CNN if he would settle for the effects of the 2024 election if Trump lost, Donalds. . . He did not answer yes.

And in March, when asked if he would certify the outcome of the 2028 election if he became Trump’s vice president, he didn’t say yes either!Which is worrying! Instead, he told Axios, “If there are state officials who violate election law in your state. . . Then no, I wouldn’t. “
